Pep Guardiola Voices Remorse Over Camera Operator Altercation Following Defeat to Newcastle

The City boss confessed experiencing "embarrassment" after a confrontation with a TV crew member in the wake of Manchester City's 2-1 defeat away to the Magpies on Saturday.

When the match concluded, a visibly upset Guardiola stepped onto the field and had heated discussions with the referee, Sam Barrott and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the headphones of the camera operator.

"I said sorry," Guardiola stated. "I'm humiliated, regretful, looking back. It's not acceptable. I immediately apologized to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games I’m not a perfect person, I make huge mistakes."

"One thing is certain, I stand by my team and club, without a doubt. Why I support my squad is clear – based on my career to win the Premier League we have to do 100 points, high nineties, otherwise we don’t win it."

Team Standing and Guardiola's Assessment

City were unhappy that the officials did not award City a penalty for a Fabian Schär challenge against Foden, and doubted Bruno's positioning on Barnes' goal Newcastle’s 70th-minute winner. Pictures published later show he was level.

Upcoming Milestone

He will manage his century in Europe against Bayer Leverkusen this week. "It’s quite good, it means that every season we have been there," he said.

City have 10 points from four matches in the group, and Leverkusen hold five.
