No league sells parity as effectively as the NFL: it’s the entire brand. However, after ten games of this season, this isn’t a league that is equally balanced among elite teams, poor performers, and average squads. Instead, it's a scenario where the bulk of franchises is simply sufficient.

NFC Standings Definition

In the NFC, to some degree, there is some clarity. The Rams along with the Seahawks (each holding 7-2 records) seem like the most balanced franchises across the league, and secured decisive victories during Sunday's action. The Eagles with six wins even with their challenges continue to possess a deeply skilled squad in the league, likewise with the Packers franchise (5-2-1). The Lions also (6-3 standing), who have been inconsistent along both lines of scrimmage while managing coaching drama, have demonstrated they're capable of dominating good teams. For all five, one can readily envision a championship trajectory.

AFC Playoff Chaos

Turning to the American Football Conference, the playoff picture is a jumbled mess. The four teams leading their divisions after ten games: the Colts, Patriots, Broncos (all standing at eight wins) along with Pittsburgh (five wins, four losses). Read that again. Kansas City isn't there. Not the Bills. Baltimore and Cincinnati are absent. The traditional powers, supported by premier quarterback talent, display either obvious team deficiencies or are dealing with health issues.

Franchise Analysis

Indianapolis Colts

Starting in Indianapolis, the signal-caller hasn't descended to pumpkin status. Yet the past two games have caused alarm. He's reverting to turning over the ball and faltering under duress. He took seven sacks facing Atlanta on Sunday, and endured a short sequence during which he tossed a pick and coughed up the ball thrice. This follows he turned the ball over on five occasions facing the Steelers.

The Colts attack excelled during early games since Jones evaded game-changing errors. Jonathan Taylor and the offensive line make the Colts good enough to survive some negative plays, as demonstrated overseas. Yet Jones going back to his previous error-filled form would terminate any playoff run.

New England Patriots

New England appears relatively comparable. A year ago, they were league laughingstocks. Currently, they represent football's most unexpected success and the strongest squad across the league post seven wins in a row. Except for fumbling away a contest they should have won versus the Steelers, they’d be sitting a 9-1 record with the best record. Previously, they were old and slow. Now they’re inexperienced, speedy and bold. However, we must acknowledge how soft the Patriots’ schedule has been. They've encountered the least challenging lineup throughout football, and there have still been cracks. Drake Maye has been sacked on 35 occasions – the second-most in football – with several hits he suffered last weekend were vicious. As the season progresses, those beatings accumulate.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos hold 8–2 as well, and the perception remains like they're nervously waiting. Bo Nix has been erratic, and the offensive unit laboring, while the defensive unit provides most of the responsibility. Absent adequate signal-calling, the Broncos aren’t scaring any playoff team. The Chargers are also hovering in the AFC West at 7-2, however, health issues along their offensive line will present challenges for extended playoff success.

Steelers Examination

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh exists, somehow still leading their division even after suffering a decisive loss to Los Angeles during prime time. They've been outscored overall, their defense regularly vanishes, and the QB's current constraints during his career phase continue to show up. At 5-4, they're barely clinging, but Baltimore, featuring a recovered Jackson and the schedule softening, are on a three-game win streak. We shouldn't be completely astonished that the Ravens have pulled to within one game of Pittsburgh, but how rapidly this occurred is an indictment of Pittsburgh’s inconsistencies. The fact Baltimore began losing five of six yet still appear capable of division victory reveals much about the conference as a whole.

Traditional Powers

The Ravens' form part within a trio of powerhouses – alongside the Bills and Chiefs – powered by their MVP quarterbacks, who could still create the most fear in opposing teams if they made the playoffs. They represent undesirable playoff matchups, yet Kansas City and Buffalo cannot get out of their own way.

Bills Struggles

Previously, the Bills were riding high after beating the Chiefs. This weekend they encountered a particularly discouraging setback this year. They didn’t just lose versus the Dolphins; they looked terrible, losing 30-13 as visitors. It was Miami’s first win over the Bills in several seasons.
