Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were no match against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Control Asserted from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
