One teenage boy was found dead just days after being falsely accused of taking the cremated remains of a deceased infant during a break-in, an inquest has learned.

Heartbreaking Discovery

The young boy's parents found his remains in his room at his Flintshire residence on November 19th, 2021.

False Accusations Start

The investigation learned how his mother got a communication on November 8th, 2021 via social media, from a individual inquiring if her son was her offspring. The message added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my flat."

In a statement presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, asserting her baby's remains had been stolen in a break-in - a claim which was false.

Police Inquiry

An investigation report from authorities later determined the supposed break-in victim had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that said items was not stolen in the beginning".

Media reports about the supposed taken ashes attracted online comments, and although Kai was not identified in the posts, his parent said individuals "knew it was him".

The "social media content were extremely upsetting", she said.

Emotional Health Impact

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views really mattered to him.

"This must have affected him severely," she said, "especially when this was not true".

Kai was detained at his residence, but nothing was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the hearing learned, but had failed to reached out to the family by the time of his death.

Isolation and Anxiety

His parent said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could feel like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged incident, she said her son told her he had gone into the house because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the bathroom whenever he wanted, but denied taking anything.

Online Harassment

In a combined testimony between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being harassed digitally after the allegations.

The proceedings heard that one young adult encouraged the teenager to end his life.

She had no worries on the evening before he died, explaining how she had listened to him "chuckling and joking".

She described him as a "caring, affectionate" young man, and said her "family is totally devastated".

He had been "obviously concealing his concerns", she stated, adding that he could not stand to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".

School Reaction

The inquest received testimony from school personnel at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys talking that the student had been arrested and that was the first I heard".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the discussion, the educator said she called the family's parents' telephone and provided a message saying she had spoken to the student about the allegations.

The proceedings learned his family said they never receive that message.

Formal Finding

Lead investigator informed the inquest he would await documents regarding what enhancements had been made to handling suspects with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a prevention of subsequent deaths report.

Delivering a descriptive finding, he stated: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young individual.

"Likely untruths were afterwards exaggerated and exaggerated through the platform of online networks.

"On 11 November, he was questioned by the police and following his questioning he was freed whilst inquiries proceeded."

The coroner concluded: "There is no evidence that the acts or omissions of any organization led to or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal action it is not possible to determine his intent."
