AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving

In a unexpected collaboration that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A strange encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of banned practices and terrifying transformations resonate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden cult.

The adventure centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Update

This release also brings the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that clearly echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
